The World 2 Enemy Course takes place in an underground cavern with Spinies. Spinies can be destroyed when upside down with a ground pound. Once again, Shells and Fireballs can defeat them, and Ice Balls can freeze a Spiny into an Ice Block, and Mario or another character can destroy it via a Ground Pound or by tossing the Ice Block against a wall. The game also introduces Spinies that can walk on ceilings and drop down and slide into Mario as he gets close. Spinies are commonly found in World 2, World 6, and World 7. Spinies make a reappearance, behaving identically as they did before. The use of fireballs, a Starman, Koopa Shells, or a Mega Mushroom can easily defeat a Spiny. Defeating a Spiny earns the player 100 points, slightly less than before. This variety can be defeated by a fireball, a shell, a Hammer, a hit from a tail from a Raccoon Suit and/or Tanooki Suit, and a Starman. counterparts: they will walk around until they fall off a cliff or are defeated. In the game, they act exactly the same as their Super Mario Bros. Spinies are both thrown by Lakitus and can be found on levels without Lakitus. Spinies first appeared in the game Super Mario Bros. Spinieis can only be defeated by using Fireballs, Ice Balls, invincibility from a Starman, or a POW Block. Spinies usually start off in the form of a Spiny Egg, which Lakitus throw in generally unlimited quantities. In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, their shell color is light-green, and it possesses yellow spikes.
