![]() The thread is some where that shows what happens when you do. DO not however use the winch alone to pull on or ease a load. The wood can simply be replaced when a piece starts to rot or is damged, plus the wood can carry a greater weight and you can nail chocks or other items right into it, and it has a lot of tie down/strap points. If you can get a wooden bed if you go roll back do it, they obviously don't rust, where Jerdan is prone to it. One of the plus sides is you can now justify buying one with no grief from the wife.Īcording to my Snap on dealer Jerdan is lower end of roll backs Sheridan (believe I spelled right), is a much better built vehicle. We use a Jerdan roll back, which you don't need a CDL for, plus it is great having a tow truck, especially if your a car guy kills 2 birds with one stone. Thinking for a minute here, were I to tow the forklift truck there on a trailor and save gas and drive it off and load tools with it and then just have a buddy drive the FLT back. Guess if forklift is the way to go I'm going to have to have a two vehicle solution. But needing a special trailor that weighs a lot really sucks up you're towing capacity. I called sunbelt they aren't too bad as far as price. If they didn't weigh so much I imagine you would see them used a lot more often. I guess it was a "can't see the forest for the trees moment" because its now dawning on me that people are still using these methods because there is no easy way to transport a forklift. I'm familiar with wenching, pybar and rollers, portable a frames, etc. Buying machines that are too big and too akward to dolly or wheel over to my truck. But its the scenario I find myself in the most often. I understand some of the questions and thoughts on weight. And from what I've read and what you guys are saying thre really are few optioins to transport machines this size. I guess I gave to little consideration to the overall weight of a forklift trailor combo. In all honesty its probably cheaper than a flatbed and a forklift lol. Milacron I would love to build that thing just for the sheer absurdity of it and the reactions it would no doubt get when loading tools with it. Thanks for all the replies and the humor. If you are an iron hunter with a budget there's a better way. If you are a business and need the capacity every day of the week, then go for it. But the turbodiesel truck, new, plus a new trailer is probably pushing $70-80k.all to save a few hundred $ on renting a forklift or hiring riggers here or there, one move at a time. ![]() I think (brain fade could be off here) those are 19k GVW with a trailer weight of 6k, so there's about 13k "payload". There are of course larger capacity trucks and trailers, a turbodiesel 1ton truck can pull a 8-tire gooseneck trailer. It might be low now but it won't stay that way forever. Plus hauling 4.5k (the bare trailer) plus the 5k "forklift penalty" for a long trip is killer on fuel both ways. So you limit yourself to 5k capacity, and can only haul 3k. My gooseneck trailer has a "payload" net of 10k by sticker. My avatar forklift is a 3k capacity machine probably close to 5k gross. Unless you are going around town its a huge money wasting proposition to haul a forklift both ways. ![]() It's a great safeguard against simple errors which could lock you out of your own system's admin privileges. Use the program visudo - it will prevent you from saving your edits unless they are at least minimally sane. However, you should never edit it by hand. I suppose we're talking about a non-server situation and you administrate the machine since we're on SU rather than SF, but just in case.)įinally, if you want to use sudo in a more fine-grained way, you should look at man sudoers for how to edit the /etc/sudoers file. (On all these systems, you can change these defaults, but only if you have some kind of administrative privileges to begin with. Equally, Debian does not give regular users any default privileges to sudo. So for example, as some people have mentioned, OS X and Ubuntu disable the root account ( su) by default. One or the other ( su or sudo) is probably not set up for full use by default. One thing that isn't getting said fully is this: which one you can use often depends on what distribution you're using and who runs it. If you have multiple people who need root access for administrative tasks, this means either changing all the root passwords whenever someone leaves, or assuming that it's ok for them to have full access to your systems after you leave. If you give them the root password, even assuming they don't do anything unpleasant with it, then they will know it forever. If you delete their account, their access is gone. If you give someone sudo access, you can revoke it by removing their line in the sudoers file, or removing them from the sudoers group. only /usr/local/bin/run_backup) or you can specify a specific user they're allowed to run commands as (e.g. You can specify a specific list of commands they're allowed to run (e.g. These options are documented under man sudo. You can allow a user or group to sudo within a certain timeframe (e.g. sudo -su user is short for sudo -s -u user. You can grant privileges to a user, or to a group. You're essentially giving them access to the other account, with 'su' being just one thing they can do with it. I went into the last show thinking that I would meet my friend in our regular seating area. The people in the van were writing down descriptions of all the undercover people they encountered and passing the information out to their friends. I was in a van with some folks and a guy got tackled right in front of the vehicle. A young kid walked by around 12 years old and looked over to see what was going on and the cop told him to get the f*** out of there. He kept telling the cop to get up off of him because he promised to roll one. I remember one dude on the ground being busted by an undercover cop that did not really understand what was going on. I could not believe the police crack down. When I got to the venue it was apparent the times they were a changing. I saw them there the year before and had a great time them. There was no turning back, no willful "gate crashing" only forward or getting trampled to death.anyone remember the Who in Cincinnati, 1979? Once inside, what's a poor boy to do? Not proud of it, but shit happens. At almost 16 years old, I was literally lifted off the ground and pushed through the door by the crowd swell. Certainly there was someone or two who first lunged at the door but once the wave started, there was no stopping it. The cops had some poor woman in a headlock inside and when they popped the door to throw her out the crowd outside moved in making me a "gate crasher". After researching this question, I realized the problem. Plain paper prints beautifully while labels look like junk. I bought some Memorex labels because they previously worked fine in my printer (see scan 1 below). I conclude the problem must be with the Avery labels. After these two failed attempts, I printed on plain paper (Scan 4) to see if there is a problem with my printer. You can see the poor quality - almost like the toner or paper is tearing.
